Last weekend was the long anticipated 2015 Victoria Water Garden Tour. A lot of work leading up to ensure the garden was ready, the weeds wipped into submission, and the fish and dog ready to receive visitors.

The volunteers arrived early to set up the greeting table out front and check tickets, soon the Master Gardeners also showed up to set up their table and be available to answer any plant questions visitors may have. One of the key things the volunteers out front were also doing, that I would not recognize the importance of until later - was making everyone aware of "Calvin" - the official and very vocal four legged greeter. This made Calvin's greeting much less of a surprise, and to his delight - all that entered already knew his name. At the end of the day he was pretty tired, but quite happy with all of the attention.

Have to admit, I was a bit nervous, though glad the day had arrived. My first show and sale in my own garden - slightly intimidating and yet also quite exciting at the same time.

The garden proved to be a fabulous setting to display pottery. The greenery helped to frame and showcase the main display on the lower deck.

It was very busy the last few weeks, with completing outstanding pieces, bisque firing those that were dry and then glazing and firing once again to have a wide selection available for the show and sale.

Soon the visitors started arriving and things got busy. It was wonderful to get to chat with so many interesting folks about the garden, some of the more rare and special plants, and ofcourse the pottery.

After months of sunshine and no rain - the skies decided to open up for the first time in a long time about halfway through the day. This however didn't seem to dampen the mood of the many gardeners - I guess everyone was happy to see the rain finally come down.

It just meant we sometimes had to cluster closer under the umbrella. What a wonderful day this turned out to be - so happy to have been a part of the tour.
